5. CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hi dear readers, today as you can see, we're gonna talk about: "Changes to my study programme"

For no one who reads this blog it's a surprise that I am in the "Universidad de Chile" and specifically in it's Faculty of Social Sciences (FACSO). I mean, all who are doing this blogs are in the English subject of  FACSO LMAO. But not all of you are studying the same major that me, so, we are going to start for there.

So, this start long time ago, maybe in 1st o 2nd of High School (Middle education in Chile), when I was having to answer that so difficult question of "What major will you study?". If I'm honest, I was always confuse about the answer. In fact, not even today, I feel like I could answer with complete certainty, but, one of the possible answers what appeared in that exploratorie sesions was "Psychology", and that was how I finished here.

Even so, there were some things that gave me a little certain. Things like the Psychology's curriculum, what always liked me. I always thought that this major was really interesting for its subjects. Just imagining myself in the first semester taking psychology and psychobiology subjects made me want to enter, obviusly, without detracting from my other subjects such as philosophy, research methods and social history.

In any case, the unic recurring thought in my mind was, the duration of my major, because I think nobody wants to lose them valious time, so I can say that I have always been okay with its lenght of five years. But one thing I didn't know (and that I knew just the first day of induction) was that the length of my major contemplated in the 5th year the so-called practice and also the "seminaries". On the other hand, the workload of my major was a concern to me, but as for as for now I think that is really easy to carry out.

The first what I loved of the university, was some of their beauty places, specially, the New FACSO's terrace. The arquitecture of the new faculty is really amazing, since the fisrt time that I saw it, I loved it modern style, at the same that it infraestructure. Another thing that I loved when I first entered the university was a teaching method called "Flipped Classroom" that we use particulary in the research methods subject and what consist of see a video or some videos before of the class and complete a form to prove that we saw it. But every story has its bad side, and in this case it is the faculty's internet that is always down (for me XD), as well as -and in my opinion- the Laboratory's computers are not the best, but I think that is understandable considering that this university is a state university.

Whatever, I'm very grateful to the University for giving me a chance to study and to "test" a major that could be my profession in the future. But, if there would have a thing that I would change, it would surely be the admission process, because my major has one of the highest cut-off scores of the chilian universities, maybe devising for a new form to test the most important hablilities to become in a Psicologist or something related with that.

Now some pictures of FACSO...

  1. I totally agree with what you say about the cut-off note, it doesn't make sense to me, but putting that aside, I think the psychology career at FACSO doesn't sound so bad, I hope the good stuff stays on.

  4. Hi, I liked your blog. I think that in general the cut off scores should be low, it would be better to have another way to enter the university
